The smart clothes theme was Vote-Off #4. There would be a different theme for the next one.

We usually discuss the theme for weeks/months in the forum beforehand.

I know the theme for event 4 was “Smart Clothes”. What were the themes for the first 3? I’ve looked through the forums and couldn’t find the themes listed.

One of them was supposed to have the theme outdoors but that turned out to be impossible for too many potential participants.

After 3 there was lots of discussion about the mixed interest in doing another one. The main issue seemed to be repetition. If every vote-off was done the same way then they quickly get boring. Making them more daring or explicit were discussed but the former was difficult and would reduce the pool of participants too much, and the latter doesn’t fit this community (or its rules!). Someone suggested a Halloween or Christmas themed one but that presented a timing issue (although with enough warning both of those are possible).

Themes which were not calendar-related are probably limited because everyone taking part needs to be able to match the selected theme.

Gotcha. Makes sense. Personally, I’d like to give the outdoor one a go. That really seems to fit in with the site somewhat and the other dares.

My first Vote 4 pics were outside but I forgot about the Smart theme and some pics managed to focus on grass rather than me.

Just thinking about the outside idea a little..

If it’s just outside, then leave it to the participants to find locations BUT… each photo must be in a different and more daring setting, just as long as you’re outside…

This does mean they might be taken on  different days and in different clothes but the flexibility might help get people over their fears.

Also how about fewer pictures?

Clothed, No trousers, No top, Naked from rear,  Naked front and close-up.

As long as the clothing pattern is maintained, I have no problem with clothes changing with location. Love the more daring location idea. Does this make it difficult to US participants?

I’d would MUCH prefer fewer photos but lots of people asked for more and I don’t remember anyone arguing against it at the time.

Public nudity is illegal in many (probably most) US states, so that’s always a complication. In Vote-Off #4, 60% of participants are in the US.

In most US ‘national’ parks, it is discouraged but not illegal. And most people have some nearby secluded spot that could use, even if it is their back yard. Just a thought. 😉

In my experience, that depends entirely on who you talk to. It sounds like it won’t put off too many people.

Often the naysayers are far more vocal than those who agree so it can skew the apparent response.

I usually get some people on Twitter say they’ll take part, then they don’t.

There are two I was in contact on Skype who seemed very keen but I haven’t heard from either of them in almost a week now. Having said that, I haven’t had any incoming messages on Skype for days now – which is odd!

Any theme suggestions other than “outdoors”?

If not, I think we have our theme for Vote-Off #5.

The fundamental aims of the Vote-Offs are to help raise money to cover the running costs of this community site and to attract more people to the community.

For reasons I haven’t fully established, Vote-Off #4 isn’t working much on either front.

The only way onward I can see for these is either a couples Vote-Off or (even less likely) an all-female Vote-Off. Any way we can make either of those a reality?

To get Vote Off 5 moving a little, what pictures should we be providing (clothed, no top, no trousers, etc)?

With the British Summer we might have to plan ahead to get Outdoor Pictures 😉

I’m expecting it to be roughly the same as Vote-Off #4 but either in a different location or with a different style of dress. I’m looking to reduce it to 7 photos instead of 9. I’m guessing the covering with hands photo might go and probably one of the levels of clothing removal too. Or should the closeup go? Does that put people off participating?

Photo 2 – Fully dressed
Photo 3 – Shirt off
Photo 4 – Trousers off
Photo 5 – Undergarments off but rear view
Photo 6 – Front view with just hands covering privates
Photo 7 – Fully exposed in star pose
Photo 8 – Time for your Close Up!

I suppose, in a way, the most important question is who’s going to vote in the next one?

 

Ideally, we need as many voters or more than the participants and that’s not including the participants themselves. In Vote-Off #4 (so far) only three of the participants got involved in voting and two other people. It’s not enough to make it worthwhile to the site, if I’m brutally honest.

It’s not open for submissions quite yet, but I’ve updated the Participation Instructions page to reflect what we’ve talked about in the past few days for the upcoming Vote-Off.

I don’t understand the special themes which will absolutely GREATLY reduce the amount of people that will apply. It makes no sense. Isn’t it difficult enough to get people to get naked online without a special theme? Just wear the same amount of clothing and STRIP. No theme. Getting naked outside in most of the United States will get you arrested or labeled as a sex predator. Stop the themes.

After Vote-Off #3, I got loads of complaints that each vote-off was exactly the same. Also, Vote #2 raised just over half what Vote #1 raised. Vote #3 raised substantially less than Vote #2. Vote #4 has raised a little more than Vote #3.

 

The way I see it, we either have different people in each Vote-Off OR a different theme. Otherwise it’s just going to be a LOT of work for me (about 40 hours) with little interest on the site. Unless you can think of a way to get a lot more voters so the other gimmicks are not necessary?

Just for the record, I got more applicants for taking part AFTER the theme was picked for Vote-Off #4. Before that I struggled to reach 3.

 

The themes also help encourage non-participants to vote. Without people voting, it all falls down.

I have tried, several times, to get discussions and suggestions going, but more people don’t join in.
