If only registered, verified members could see the forums, would you remain a member?
By verified, I mean only those people who have been verified on skype or in person that they are over 18.

No-one seems to know the shape of the age verification that the government is planning to introduce this year and I can’t get a definitive answer as to whether this community will be affected. If it is, one of the options will be to make this community verified members only. That’s going to seriously hinder the quest to find new members.

I voted “Not sure/depends” – I haven’t decided what to do if/when my ISP starts filtering sites to non-verified users. I think that if they start filtering, and if I then got myself verified, I might think that was enough filtering. I really don’t know though. I’m not even sure I’ll get myself verified.

I’ve already had to verify myself on my last 3 mobile data providers and my current home ISP. This new system they’re talking about seems to be more about raising money more than anything else. They keep talking about fees and charges.

Wow, how old is it? Not even the web browser version? I’ve got a 6-year-old desktop PC which runs the app fine.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Voted not sure. I enjoy the site and participating, and I don’t think I would mind being verified. What I wasn’t sure of was what changes were being discussed and why…</p>

I’m impressed that this site runs at all on a setup that old.

It’s been a huge point of controversy for over a year now, @eeastwood09.

I can certainly see some major issues. Your Government will be able to randomly claim a site is porn… ( yours is not ). Then push them into a questionable regulation system, enabling organized crime to make fortunes… The US tried that with alcohol during prohibition…

I’ve got bigger problems. NakedExperiment is one of several sites. AMOC and SGC are highly likely to fall foul of the new controls. If they go under, NE ultimately goes with them.

@shynudedude83I don’t have Skype and only participate on places like this so long as I can remain anonymous.

If government plans go ahead, @shynudedude83, that quite probably won’t be an option.

It looks as if we’re in the clear. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-47960775
“any platform that hosts pornography but does not do so on a commercial basis – meaning it does not charge a fee or make money from adverts or other activity – will not be affected.”

Not entirely. The sites which cover a large proportion of the running cost of this community may or may not be exempt. If they get blocked this community site goes bust.
Also, interesting point – if you run a site which is deemed to be in breach of the rule and gets blocked. How do you fix the site if you can’t get to it? It kind of means that any site which gets blocked is gone for good as no changes can be made to it ever again.

Most big companies either host their sites on their own servers or have a 3rd party maintain and update their site for them, all on owned servers with direct access.

Yes, but most companies aren’t big. Literally millions of sites are on rented (and therefore remote) server space.
