Just to give you an idea of the ongoing war that webmasters face:

In just this WEEK:

1177 Malicious IP addresses attempted to access the server.
2995 SPAM signups were blocked.
7194 attempts to access secure parts of the server in a malicious way were blocked.
67 people tried to log into MY account.
21 bots scanned the server for weaknesses (usually malicious intent).

 

For all of that, only 28 registered users logged into the site! Anyone who thinks that keeping a community site like this running is easy, please reconsider.

Six different IP addresses attempted to change my admin password last night!

These days, websites are just under continuous attack 🙁

Someone spent half of last night trying to change my admin password.

I don’t see the point. The site doesn’t contain personal details, financial transactions or anything like that. What do they hope to gain?

The multiple attempts to get on the site on my login the other day were actually me. Replacement phone 🙁 sorted now

No, it was over 50 different IP addresses and all attempting to login as me. They also requested dozens of password resets on my account (I got the e-mails to prove it).
