A few people have deleted their accounts recently. I wish I knew why. It’s rare I can change their mind, but if there is a specific problem, it’s nice to be aware of it.

I’m starting to get some concrete plans together now. I always forget how huge this site is until I look into the details.

The new site will be on https://NakedExperiment.com rather than https://community.NakedExperiment.com.

This simplifies things for me (one site instead of two). I’m still undecided about the forums, but the blog will stay. We’ll definitely be keeping the experiment reports, articles, help pages and some of the information stuff. The MDL will remain but (probably) with censored photos. I won’t be able to allow video anymore and I’d love to know what everyone thinks of ending the option of not publishing the photo for participants. With genitals and faces obscured, surely that’s enough?

I need to sort out some way to make this available to paid patrons on Patreon.

I’m not removing the photos from the ranking table because that isn’t the forum. According to the new rules, I can’t let visitors post directly on the site without “robust” age verification. The ranking table is different because I control that.

Videos are different as I’m not sure about the server storage space yet (depends on the hosting plan – which isn’t decided yet). Also censoring videos isn’t a practical option.

I genuinely don’t know. Ofcom have not specified what counts as pornography. Personally, I don’t think this site counts as porn at all, but I suspect the government will have very different ideas. They always conflate nudity with sex and tend to go harder on small sites than large ones. News sites (and Google etc), will probably get away with showing nudity. I suspect part of that is the organisations with huge resources can better defend themselves in court.

Most people would agree that non-sexual topless photos are not adult content, but there’s no clarification on what counts as an infringement.

Other sites have the same problem with “su*cide” content. I wholeheartedly agree that giving advice on committing it, or (worse still) encouraging it, should be restricted. However, if a site publishes a story where a character willingly gives their life to save someone else, that is technically in breach too. There will be a lot of court cases over this to clear up what the legislation means. I have no intention of being one of those court cases, so I will censor boobs too.

We also have the weird thing where the term “breasts” essentially only means nipples. Otherwise women wearing a skimpy bikini top would have potential legal problems walking along the seafront.

It’s always been a problem. Lots of people check in, don’t post anything or stick around long enough for anyone else to be online and then leave. During the day, we’re getting something like 40-80 people visiting, but as almost no-one posts anything, it looks like there’s no-one here. I’ve tried everything to encourage more interaction, or for people to check in more often, but nothing really works.

It’s been a while since I’ve verified anyone. Taking part in an experiment will do it. Otherwise sending a photo or video of you full-frontal naked holding up a sheet with NakedExperiment written on it. I check these carefully for editing, source, metadata etc. (People sometimes take a photo off the web and superimpose the text on it.). Members often end up sending a couple of photos to satisfy that it’s not faked (getting one photo off the web is easy, but 2 or 3 of the same person, in the same location, holding up a sheet of paper isn’t so easy).

I’m not sure if the “Verified” badge will exist on the new version of the site? Haven’t planned for that yet.
