What can I do that would encourage you to check in to this community every day?
Most people seem to visit once or twice a week. There are a few regulars who visit much more often but, sadly, they are a tiny minority.

I only check the other stuff once a week, but log on to see if the forum chats have updated.
If we could get the chats more active again and a few more subjects active?

I’m not sure if it’s the same for everybody, but in my profile > settings > email I have:
But although members have certainly posted “replies to an update or comment you’ve posted” I’ve never received an email to inform me. Or as far as I can remember about any of the other categories I’ve enabled there. I only find out about it when I next visit the site.
Am I the only person that doesn’t receive those notifications?
If somehow that could be made to work in the way that the setting implies, would that help to encourage people to come back sooner?

If you don’t receive ANY e-mails from the site, your MSP is probably blocking e-mails from NE.
I don’t have any notifications turned on because I get swamped if I do.

That’s possible. I do occasionally get emails about the site, but I think they come from Patreon rather than the site itself.
Usually, anything detected by my mail host gets sent to me anyway, with just the addition of [SPAM] to the message title. My mail reader then files them separately, but still keeps them for a month but I don’t have anything from NE there either.
I can try whitelisting. Do the site emails come from nakedexperiment.com or from some other site?

@shynudedude83I usually do check every day, sometimes more than once, but usually there’s not that much activity, where sometimes multiple days can go by without any new posts or comments. I have a rich imagination but I don’t really have any real life personal experience, so the only time I’m really able to chime in on this is if somebody asks a speculative question.

Also, it’s probably not possible here, but many other forums provide a way to opt in to notifications about future replies to particular threads or forum sections.
If that were possible, would it help here?
My thoughts are that in a slow moving forum, people who check back frequently but don’t find anything new will eventually get out of the habit of coming back at all. But people who don’t check back frequently but get notified when there’s something new are probably more likely to come back when they get the notification.
The opposite would apply in a faster moving forum, that people would get fed up with the notifications and turn them off. But then, in a faster moving forum, they would probably be coming back more often anyway.

@shynudedude83I usually just keep refreshing the page that says latest activity and if there is nothing new I usually move on, although I might check again later in the day, once I start my writing I always say that I won’t check the Internet again after that, but my discipline is not very good LOL. I do usually notice that when I log on it will have a little blue circle with the number of things that say people responded to something and mine was 11, but now just today I don’t see that little thing there anymore, so did something just suddenly change?

@shynudedude83“I removed the admin bar as it was causing confusion.
I can put it back if you like?”
I can see now that it says I have 13 notifications, I guess I just didn’t notice that before, because it used to appear in that little blue circle. It’s just like whenever I noticed something different like that I always wonder if it’s a glitch on my end.

It’s one of the reasons it took me so long to come back after leaving the site for a while. There would be days of inactivity and it felt like I would be coming back to a dead community.
I check in almost daily and on those days i check in more than once or twice a day.
I have ideas for new topics all the time but i get the feeling people get bored of hearing from the same person all the time so i try to limit my responses to things and definitely limit posting new stuff.
I have an interesting challenge for myself currently in planning and a second challenge pending others free time.
the problem is my content will just be male nudity so likely to put people off rather than get more engagement.Diana likes this

I mentioned a few days ago that I wasn’t getting notifications. Did some tests and now I am (which is why I’m here just a few minutes after your post.
The conclusion seems to be that if you sign up via Patreon, it gives you a way to access the forum here — but doesn’t give it your email address. It’s NE, not Patreon, that sends the notifications. So doesn’t know where to send the notifications to.
Ed added my email address manually, and that solved the notification problem.
Notifications is a mixed blessing. On a slow moving forum, notifications can help to keep things moving. On a faster moving forum, they would be a nuisance. But you can turn them off if that happens.

I’m not sure it needs to be daily but many YouTube channels these days have regular slots for releasing new content. Like on a Wednesday and Sunday at 8pm they will drop their new video on schedule every week.
Can the site put up some regular stuff twice a week to try drive people to visit mid week and weekend to see the content. Once they are coming at least twice a week regularly then they will start to visit more.
in terms of what would get me here more. Content, regular content. I dont think patreon only content ruins the site but I think having regular articles released or a public video that everyone can engage with and at a time they know they can be involved.
i like a good story about people’s experience. Maybe a regular guest blog from a different member giving more detail about a particular event.
for a site like this pictures/video will bring people but those who will stay are those that are in for the experience and want To know how others feel when they do things, how they plan stuff and how it went.
so in summary for me… blogs, vlogs and schedule

Blog content is posted every Saturday at 9am. I’ve succeeded in maintaining that rate for a few weeks now. If I increase that, I don’t think I’ll keep consistent updates because I’ll run out of content too quickly. I currently have enough content to last about 2-3 months, which is slightly above the minimum buffer I need to maintain regular updates (they’re not all queued up to post, I need to create the posts around the content).
The best content is forum activity – it causes a LOT more page views when a discussion is going on than a blog post. My article posts have been consistently the worst received blog posts (which puts me off trying to write them even if I could think of something to write).
We do need more content more often, I agree, but I can’t do all of that myself. If I could take a day off work each week, I’d get a LOT more done here, but I need to make a huge amount more progress before that would be viable.
If I could make this a full-time project with a budget to spend on projects, promotion and (possibly?) content, then the site could be fantastic. Right now, I can only run it as a very part-time hobby.

More free content, more discussion, and more female participation would encourage me to visit more. I know you need paid content to keep things running, and I respect that, but for me it’s just not going to happen. So anything behind a paywall does nothing for me.

More discussion – I’ve been pushing, encouraging for years now. If I post to much myself it puts others off posting in the forums. Getting other people to post is hard.
Free content is tricky. I can’t embed stuff from Vimeo if I can’t search for it. Uploading videos here to show for free costs too much in bandwidth (increasing costs is a bad idea while running at a loss). Youtube, DailyMotion etc. etc. have all either stopped allowing the embedding of videos with nudity or restricted things in other ways. Video sites in general have been a pain as content tends to disappear at random.
Female participation is increasing but so slowly that it nearly makes no difference.
Now it looks like AMOC and SGC will be closing by the end of the year, so NE will either need to make some money or shut down too. I suspect, at the very least, NE will need to move to a smaller server and that’s a big job in itself.

I’m here for philosophical discussion about what makes nudity a taboo. What is or isn’t sexual about it? How it can be a thrill yet not a sex act? Where society’s boundaries are?
How to get a thrill without breaking my principles as a straight (possibly asexual if all told) woman in a monogamous relationship (and I’m under a pseudonym because my partner doesn’t know about all of this).
I’m not here to see pics of nude men. I don’t like watching the fashion shows etc, but I would like to watch the “inspiration” videos of girls walking in the woods etc.
That’s a broken link when I click on it.
I’m very new to all of this and brought up in a strict church background. If anonymity was guarenteed (and it was hosted at least 60 miles from my home) I think I would sign up for a Naked Experiment.-

The link to the page itself now works (tested in firefox) but when I get to the page, I see only a static photo and a title in bold for each of the videos described. No links from either the photos or the titles.

Ah, I didn’t click on either of them. All I did was to check that I was still logged in and that the page would therefore “know” that I’m a supporter.
After clicking the supporters link, I get to a page where the actual downloads are.
Unlike other videos on NE, those files do not play in Firefox but that may be a problem with firefox or windows. I can right click and download the file, and play it with a video player.
Perhaps somebody else can test it with a browser other than firefox.

Patreon just allows access (or not). Pages can’t detect if you’re a patron. The Patreon plugin just lets you see locked pages if you are a patron and leaves you unable to see them if you are not.

I find that is what I am interested in as well, the psychology behind it ends the societal attitudes and the power dynamics that it creates. I don’t really have much in the way of personal experience though, so I mostly express it through speculative fiction scenarios, I have written like a tremendous amount of stories about nudity but don’t really have that much real life experience or any to really share, but I am very interested in how people regard these particular issues. I also like seeing how people react when taboos are broken.

@julie
I can do that for you, but you’ll need to give me a title. You wouldn’t be able to change the title of a thread that somebody else had created
Or, to help you (and probably others too) for the future:
- there are three categories where new threads can be created — click on Forums then overview for the list
- click on one of those categories, which will take you to a list of posts in that category
- scroll right down to the bottom
- you’ll find a box for the title and another box for your opening post
The rest should be similar to posting a reply, but ask again if there’s anything else that isn’t obvious.

@Julie
On a desktop computer or laptop, overview is the first selection that appears when you hover the mouse over the Forums button.
On a mobile, there are no buttons but if you open the MENU (probably in the top right corner) you’ll find a Forums link. Click on that, it expends to show the overview link.
After that, you should see the three main sections with a description of what it’s appropriate to post there.
