It was a bad time back in December last year when Tumblr was bought out and all “not safe for work” was banned. Tumblr lost a huge number of members and visitors and it seems their attempts to re-invigorate things have failed.
It’s little more than a possibility right now but it seems that PornHub has expressed an interest in buying up Tumblr and most-probably restoring it to its former “glory”.
The big question, assuming this goes ahead, is will this be a good thing for us?

I don’t see they are going to ban all the content which isn’t porn – that wouldn’t help the site either, but if they simply allow all the NSFW content to return it could be great. There was a huge amount of non-porn nudity, nudism blogs, naked art, discussions and reviews going on there before the ban. It would be great to see that community return. It was also one of the many places I’ve been promoting our community. That worked much better before the NSFW ban.

I’m not suggesting that NE tries to replace the original NSFW Tumblr but it could replicate some of it that is relevant here, without being a mostly photo/video sharing site in the mould of Tumblr, the server costs are high. I know that there is some good coverage here of ‘non-porn nudity, nudism blogs, naked art, discussions and reviews’, nudity in its various forms attracts attention, building on that basis could be the foundation of a very good NE, better than it even is now!
