I’m just wondering how many of us know about the “LIKE” button in the forum?
It supports and encourages posters here if everyone, upon reading a post they agree with, takes a second or two to click on the “LIKE” button and let them know. Obviously, a reply is more powerful, but clicking the like button is a good halfway house and lets the poster know that people are reading what they took the time to write.
I’m looking at other ways to improve the community here and encourage everyone to get more engaged. The most common complaint I get from people who leave is that there’s not much activity. I know that over a hundred unique people visit the site every day (some days almost a thousand), but getting those people to leave a mark here is SO difficult.
I suspect that a little, well-placed encouragement could tip the balance, making everyone aware that there are many more people here than it looks and members will be less likely to leave, causing the active membership to expand much more readily.
I’d welcome any suggestions for ways to improve engagement. There are limits of what I can do to site layout and functionality as it’s mostly an off-the-shelf script and I’m not a programmer.

Are you able to edit CSS?
For example:
.wl-like
{
color: red !important ;
font-weight: bolder !important;
font-size: x-large !important;
}gives:

It would disappear at the next update but I was more thinking of putting a button in a different location rather than a text link. Making the text a different size/boldness messes up the location of the whole row.
