There are still a few longtime contacts of mine on Skype who suddenly stopped receiving my messages. Some I’ve been in regular contact with for 5+ years but went dark around 2 months ago.
On top of that, I’ve been looking through my Skype history and have noticed something odd. Every week, I get anything from 2 to 20 questions from members of the public, wanting to find out what Naked Experiment is, what inspired it or if they are eligible to join. I don’t always respond immediately but I’m online most mornings and evenings and I attempt to reply to everyone within half a day.
Of the last 28 people to contact me who are not already members of this community, I replied to all, some of them within minutes. 23 of those never replied and 21 of those (according to Skype) never even saw my reply, even days later. Some of those were showing as online when I replied to their question(s).
If anyone here messages me on Skype and gets no reply. Please let me know as I suspect something is going wrong.

Another two days have gone past and Skype is just dead. Is it the warmer weather?

I think Skype is headed for the dustbin – Skype for Business was discontinued ages ago – everyone I know seems to use either Zoom, Discord, MS Teams or Teamspeak to fill the various functions. The last time I used Skype was over a year ago for some role-playing gaming with old uni friends!

Skype for Business became Teams. Teams is the market leader in the business world with 270 million active users.
I’ve never heard of Teamspeak. I do use Discord but it isn’t great. I’ve only used Zoom once and the livechat didn’t work. My kids’ school used it for parents’ evenings during the pandemic but dropped it after a few months due to reliability issues. They moved over to Teams instead. Skype has an even bigger active userbase than Teams (300 million use it per month and 4 billion registered).
Skype’s the one I use to keep in touch with family overseas and my local GP surgery uses it for video consultations (I don’t have any experience of those).

I’ve still got almost zero activity on Skype and those long term members who went silent are still silent and not getting my messages.
