How soon is too soon?

It’s only been a week or so since Vote-Off #5 finished. It covered more operating costs than the previous one, but still only enough to last around 2-3 months. We’re bouncing ideas around for Vote-Off #6 but how soon should we start that?

If people get bored with it happening too often, fewer people vote and it’s not worth the effort.

My ideal would be to run two per year, have 6 participants in each and 20-30 (or more!) people voting. We’re not near that yet, but it’s good that we’re still getting the occasional event up and running.

It would be really nice to have an event raise enough to cover the site’s upkeep for 12 months, so I don’t have the constant niggle of justifying the site’s existence to myself every time I’m doing my accounts.

Looks like you probably have plenty of time. While several people have promised to send in videos for the Vote-Off, only one person actually has, so far. You can still take part, @antonx. 🙂

Where are things now?  There was an death in the family a few months ago, and I’m finally crawling out from under it.

Sorry to hear that, @antonx. It’s great to have you back. I was beginning to think you had gone for good!

We’ve lost a few long-time regulars over the past year or so.

The vote-offs are on a pause right now. Activity is variable on the site (sometimes very active, other times nothing for a few days) and I’ve been working on converting the Community Supporter system to something a little more modern. That’s taken up most of my available time.
