I think it was just a one-off. I’m not aware of any plans for another one. From what I heard they had difficulty casting this one.

I’d do that 🙂
The camera crew would make it look legitimate, but it would still feel so good!!!

Would be interesting to do… or provide a great cover story for a non tv version…. Ed 😉

I thought it was interesting the way the teams were one man one woman in each. I’m sure that was to reduce the potential for complaints or offence from the public.
It would be a great cover for an experiment. Time to create a fake TV production company?

No need to create one. I have a film production company I am associated with …

I suspect they had people going ahead warning locals, no one seemed particularly surprised.
I seem to remember one a few years back where a woman had to get across London, I think she covered up quite early, but at one point she was trying to cover herself with a couple of breadcrates she pinched, which of course have a lot of holes in them.
Would I do that? I’m not sure. What the ginger lad said struck me, I worry about offending people. Would I appear naked on television on the right format, absolutely.

Yeah, I’d be a bit nervous but it would be a great excuse to visit the UK and an awesome story to tell. 🙂
If I did get selected, it would certainly put me in the spot where I’d have to go thru with it just because.

I saw a post earlier that says they are looking at a series rather than a one off. I think I’d need that if I got up the will because I suspect most of the shows will be looking for younger flesh than mine.

Speaking of the U.S, I wonder if there will be an American copy or such for those that want to participate here?

Is there anywhere in the US where public nudity is legal?

Not that I’m aware of. We are much more prudish. :-/
There are a few nude beaches and campgrounds but I’m not aware of areas where it is legal. There are some spots where it is tolerated from my understanding, San Francisco for example.

That would make the show almost impossible to make in the US.

You’d hope that having a film crew with you would count as a reasonable excuse. You’d need to get insurance, do health and safety risk assessments, inform local police and city authorities etc etc so it’s not like a gang of students going streaking, or even a group of protesters getting attention by stripping off. Spencer Tunick has worked in the US and must have navigated his way round all the regulations. Some colleges seem to do naked stuff too, but maybe that’s OK on private property.

I finally got round to watching it. People’s reactions were interesting, from ignoring them to treating them as completely normal. It kept saying one of the challenges was not to get arrested, and that reminded me that although being naked isn’t against the law, a lot of people think it is. People debate whether or not nudity should be unofficially tolerated, but there always seems to be an assumption that it’s illegal.
The participants had to remind each other they were naked, confirming what I’ve heard actors say, that when they’re naked in a performance it very soon feels natural. Somebody – it might have been Kate Winslet – said people had to remind her sometimes that she wasn’t wearing anything as she wandered around the set of whatever film she was in.

It would probably have to be down a stretch of coastline or something if you went by the same premise. There’d need to be people keeping tabs to ensure they didn’t get utterly lost, you couldn’t do it in say the Brecon Beacons without a lot of people to assist. I’d add the rule that you weren’t allowed to cover up though 🙂

Yes, that could definitely work along a quiet coastline. We could start by trying to get 100 yards (or whatever) along the beach. There would be the excitement of being naked with others outdoors and only a small risk of being seen. If we were seen, we’re very unlikely to offend anyone if it’s a discreet location.

There are several important keys to this working:
- Location is vital. I know a couple of places where it should work without any significant trouble.
- Female participants are critical (it would be borderline impossible without them).
- Well-thought-out contingency planning.
Other than that, I think the presence of cameras would immediately pre-empt most potential problems. It’s along the lines of wearing a hi-vis jacket and carrying a 2-way radio (everyone immediately assumes you’re supposed to be there).

I thought what you said was interesting because I have been writing a novel lately that involves a world where a certain percentage of people are allergic to clothing as a side effect of Covid, and one of the things that the characters couldn’t get used to was how unnatural it felt to be naked in a crowd when most people were dressed, with most people staring at them and not being able to ignore it. Maybe I overemphasize how much I would think that people would notice something like that.
Maybe it would become more normalized over time, but I think that in the case of actors though they are probably used to playing a role and getting out of reality, and I think that if you are naked all the time the reality of it would be a lot different than if you are just playing a role in a film. I’m sure that if she walked around naked in public all the time she would probably feel more naked and see people really noticing! I just know if I were the only one naked in public I’d really feel all the eyes on me!

What if anybody who became infected had to stay naked for a week or two depending on how much sun they could get? That would introduce more variety into the story so that the nakedness remained stimilating.

@shynudedude83“What if anybody who became infected had to stay naked for a week or two depending on how much sun they could get? That would introduce more variety into the story so that the nakedness remained stimilating.”
In the novel it’s basically just about a world where the side effect of catching Covid is that you are rendered permanently allergic to clothing, so it’s basically about my two characters, who are both really shy and uptight, having to deal with being involuntary public nudists, and one of the awkward things is that although they find it humiliating they also find it extremely titillating, so that every time they are going out in public and interacting with people it’s an intense experience simply because they are in humiliating situations and feeling disempowered by their lack of clothing. So the nudity certainly stays stimulating for them.
It does lead me to wonder how soon something would be accepted if there was large numbers of people, like millions of people, who were rendered permanently naked through no choice of their own. I mean you would think in time it would become normalized, but I think that something like that for the people who are uncomfortable being naked it would never be fully normalized, and no matter how long it would go on that people would still probably sexualize those people and objectify them no matter what. It’s something that I don’t feel would really go away over time, the permanently naked would just have to sort of get used to being constantly exposed to everybody and on display.
It probably would never feel hundred percent normal, although admittedly my characters are sort of based on me, and I am going with my own feelings on that. I mean if I were rendered permanently naked in public all the time I feel maybe over time I would sort of get used to it, but I would probably never get over that feeling of embarrassment and intensity simply from being naked in every social situation whatsoever, probably because I’m already very socially anxious with my clothing on!

Is anyone applying to take part in Naked, Alone & Racing to Get Home this year?
It would be better if they could have more than two teams this time around, but I guess that would involve more camera crews to follow them and make it more expensive to shoot.
-
28th April 2022 at 1:36 pm #11353
It’s a series of five programmes this time, each show will have two competing teams of two.
I applied last time, went through various casting stages including doing a two-minute naked video. Not applied this time.

Can you share how they do the casting process?
-
28th April 2022 at 3:47 pm #11355
There was a NDA, but below is generic enough
Form
email
online casting interview talking about yourself, questions about fitness, experience about being in the wild and nudity.
Courtesy email
phone call
Courtesy email
video call/phone call
Email , phone call and link to a video explaining how to do the next task..
Record a video, talking about yourself, whilst taking off all your clothes in a way that you are fully naked on camera, but not showing genitalia. Then do a day-to-day task around the house whilst providing a running commentary, again proving you’re naked in front of the camera, but not showing anything.
More phone calls
That’s when I left the process and a few days after that they selected people.
