Did anyone take part in the WNBR this year?

Yes that’s Manchester, but not this year as it was sunny throughout

Manchester was 1/4 ratio.

London was closer to 3/7

I mean if it’s just the bike that the issue I can fix that. I used to ride bikes a lot so learned how to fix them up. I’ve never done it but might head down to Bristol next year. Maybe we can arrange a few to get together next year and take part.

Manchester has the bee bikes via the beryl app. London has the santander bikes.

 

Plenty of bike hire opportunities at every wnbr.

I’ve seen people warning not to rely on those council hire bikes as during a big event like WNBR loads of people rent them so they run out.

Where have people warned, never seen any.

I always use hired bikes

 

Used both manchester and london’s bikes this year. Got them walking up to the starting point, probably about half a mile from the starts. Was easy and no hassle at all.

Where do people leave their clothing? If the bike runs out on route, how do they get back their clothing if they have left at the start / finish?

at least the Tiger Streaks were circular and you were never that far away ( and on foot anyway!)

You don’t. All wnbr organisers tell cycyclists to take their clothes with them on the ride. It’s written in the advice for all rides.

Here in Cardiff, it was definitely a warning last year (I missed this year’s completely so I can’t comment on that). Someone told me last year that Birmingham warned that too.

In which case, I’m assuming someone remembered the wrong city. I’m got going to assume it was deliberate.

It was my bad. The guy that told me was from Birmingham but the event was in Coventry. Apologies for the confusion.

Apparently, Cardiff has a shortage of those hire bikes normally but that’s because so many of them have been destroyed or stolen. The nearest three Ovo bike racks to me are empty all the time.

Just looked and any remaining dates this year dont work for me?.

Guess next year I will have to keep a closer on the dates. I couldnt find this in the links on this page but it felt like something that would be useful

I used to post that link every year but a couple of people warned me that it’s not comprehensive and some of the local events don’t update their entries on that list meaning not all the dates are correct.

I was hoping (back when we had a forum for that) for everyone to post their local dates there to keep everyone up-to-date, but that never took off.

I’m always riding my bike and would love to try this. I just wish they had a quieter location to try it without all the crowds at first. The thought of riding naked with all those people worries me a bit.
