The practicalities of a clothing allergy would be quite mind boggling.

At home, they could turn the heating up in winter. But walking to the station naked in subzero temperatures would be very uncomfortable.

    Walking to station

    And then what?

On the train, they can’t sit down because presumably the allergy would be triggered by all types of fabric, including seat covering. If seat coverings were somehow exempt from the allergy, then the whole premise would break down, because clothing manufacturers would see a big market for allergy-exempt clothing.

So the allergy would have to apply to all types of material that clothing could possibly be made from. That includes all flexible plastics (so no hiding in a bin bag) and leather — so that would probably mean bare feet on the snow.

Even standing on a lurching train would be a problem in the rush hour, because any contact with clothing of other standing passengers would trigger the allergy (which ideally should be infectious to anybody that isn’t already naked, with the other passengers gaining instant immunity by travelling naked too).

At work, they would need special wooden seats. OK, businesses used wooden seats many years ago so that’s nothing new. But they wouldn’t be able to follow the naturist rule of sitting on a towel, because the allergy would also be triggered by any material capable of making a towel.

The allergy would have include paper, to prevent paper clothing bypassing the allergy. That in turn means they could only handle paperless correspondence.

Workers would presumably be told to get used to working with their naked allergic colleagues of both sexes, but things might be more difficult for those who deal with the public.
